School of HRT on the MoveThe students in the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism are very active in promoting the hospitality industry. Each year our students travel to conferences and tradeshows as well as volunteer for industry activities and functions.
Hospitality and tourism is the largest industry in the world, with a huge variety of jobs and career paths. If you enjoy working with people and have a positive attitude, consider a career in HRT! This program is open to all UNO students regardless of the major degree they are pursuing. The HRT minor consists of 18 credit hours of required and optional HRT courses.
Students pursuing a minor in HRT are also eligible for some scholarships and memberships in HRT student associations.
Requirements for the HRT minor:
HRT 2000 – Introduction to Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Administration (3 credit hours)
Plus 6 Credit Hours from:
HRT 2020 Hotel Operations (3 credit hours)
HRT 2030 Principles of Food Preparation (3 credit hours)
HRT 2050 Principles of Travel and Tourism (3 credit hours)
HRT 2070 Introduction to the Convention, Events, and Meetings Industry (3 credit hours)
9 Credit Hours From:
HRT 3000 and 4000 level courses (some pre-requisites may apply)
Student must maintain a Grade “C” or above in the HRT Minor
